In 2009, Flt Lt Tom Gray was asked to take over command of 287 Squadron, and since then he has worked tirelessly to restore the Squadron to its former glory.
Since taking over command, Flt Lt Gray has set up a regular link with the Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA). As such, we now participate in regular fundraising activities for the organisation. As a result, we often feature in their newsletter, which gets sent around the country to different Royal Air Force personnel.
In addition, we have managed to retain a regular link with 870 (Dreghorn) Squadron, even after our co-habitation agreement terminated. The friendships formed during this period will last for years to come.
Our Squadron currently parades approximately 20 Cadets twice a week, and that figure is set to rise over the next year, as we get involved in recruitment drives and other public events.
